Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment
We believe that everyone — regardless of ability, age, or the assistive technology they use — should be able to manage their home effectively. Routenza is designed to be usable by as wide a range of people as possible.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA for our website, and to the equivalent mobile accessibility standards (Apple iOS Accessibility and Android Accessibility) for our mobile application.
Current Accessibility Status
Mobile Application (iOS & Android)
The Routenza mobile app is built with React Native (Expo), which provides a foundation of platform-native accessibility support. The following features are currently supported:
- Screen reader support Partial — Core navigation and primary content areas are compatible with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android). Some complex interactive elements may have limited screen reader support.
- Dynamic text size Supported — Text throughout the app respects the user's preferred font size set in iOS/Android system settings.
- High contrast Partial — The app uses a dark color theme with high-contrast text. We are working to formally test against WCAG contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Touch target sizes Supported — Interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed the minimum 44x44 point touch target recommended by Apple and Google.
- Reduced motion In progress — We are adding support for the "Reduce Motion" system preference to minimize animations for users who are sensitive to motion.
- Keyboard navigation (web) Partial — The web version of the app supports basic keyboard navigation. Full keyboard-only operation is being improved.
- Color independence Supported — Information is not conveyed by color alone. Icons and text labels accompany color indicators throughout the app.
Website (routenza.com)
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy.
- All images include meaningful
alttext. - Interactive elements are keyboard-navigable.
- Text meets WCAG 2.1 AA color contrast ratios.
- Forms include associated labels for all inputs.
- The site respects the user's
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility could be improved, and we are actively working to address them:
- Some AI-generated content (maintenance instructions, appliance descriptions) may not always include structured formatting that is optimally digestible by screen readers.
- The AI camera scanning flow (photo capture and label analysis) has limited screen reader guidance during the scanning process — we are adding more descriptive audio feedback.
- The document viewer for PDFs uses a WebView component, and accessibility within embedded PDF documents depends on the PDF's own accessibility features.
- Complex chart or data visualizations (Home Health score dial) currently lack text equivalents — we are adding numeric and descriptive alternatives.
Assistive Technologies Tested
We test Routenza with the following assistive technologies:
- VoiceOver on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
- TalkBack on Android
- Safari with VoiceOver on macOS (web version)
- Chrome with keyboard-only navigation (web version)
Feedback and Contact
We take accessibility feedback seriously. If you encounter any barriers while using Routenza, or if you have a suggestion for improvement, please reach out:
- Email: accessibility@routenza.com
- General support: support@routenza.com
When reporting an accessibility issue, it helps to include:
- The screen or feature where you experienced the issue.
- The device type, operating system, and version you are using.
- The assistive technology you are using (e.g., VoiceOver, TalkBack).
- A description of what you expected to happen and what happened instead.
We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to provide a response or resolution timeline within 30 days.
Ongoing Efforts
Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time effort. Our plans include:
- Conducting formal WCAG 2.1 AA audits of the website and app on a regular cadence.
- Including accessibility testing in our standard development and QA process.
- Training our team on accessible design and development practices.
- Publishing updated audit results on this page as they become available.
Third-Party Content
Some content in the Routenza app is provided by third-party services, including AI-generated text (OpenAI), images (Cloudinary), and Amazon product links. We cannot guarantee the accessibility of all third-party content, but we strive to present it in the most accessible way possible within our own interface.
